Phil Laak
Phil Laak is one of the most fascinating of all poker players. He is one man that people are not only envious of the poker wins and the mastery of poker that he has, but also the kind of life he leads. He has the most fascinating of life what with all the fame and fortune and the fantastic things that he packs his life with.
Phil Laak was born in the year 1972 in Dublin in Ireland. He now lives in Los Angeles in California. If you are looking for a poker player who has been seen most on national television than it has to be Phil Laak. The thing about him is that he is a trained mechanical engineer from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He worked as an engineer for a while before getting into poker full time and professionally.
Phil Laak has earned himself the nickname of The Unabomber. That is because of the way you will see him at the poker tables, dressed in sunglasses and a hoodie sweatshirt that is pulled right up to his forehead.
If you were to switch on any poker show and ask for the most popular and well liked of poker personalities then it is bound to be Phil Laak. He has won for himself as much as $2.5 million in the poker games that he has played. He has under his belt a World Poker Tour Victory and one of the most coveted of bracelets, the WSOP. He was also able to play poker non-stop for 115 hours and that earned him a place in the Guinness World Record. That sure is one endurance feat proved by Phil Laak.
There are several poker games that he has won, and has finished at the final table at the World Poker Tour and won the World Poker Tour's Invitational Tournament in the year 2004. The crowning glory to his poker win and game was when he went on to win a WSOP Europe bracelet in the year 2010. The other wins that Phil Laak is remembered for are the the William Hill Tournament Grand Prix event in 2005 and the PartyPoker World Open V in 2009. He was able to finish second with Johnny Chan at a World Series of Poker Pot Limit Hold'em Event in 2005. He is considered to be one of the most dashing and elite of all poker players. He has under his belt the most wanted in the poker world the pride of having a WSOP bracelet and a WPT title at the same time. Not many poker players have been able to achieve this.
His personal life is also really something to look up to. He has a gorgeous girlfriend and he has his hands into almost any kind of activity be it the most adventurous of pursuits. He loves to go motorcycle racing, sky diving and does judo as well. This makes him one of the most multi-faceted of poker players on the planet.
