Erik Seidel

Erik Seidel lives in Las Vegas in Nevada in the United States. He is one of the most respected and popular of poker players. He is most widely recognized and has got several wins to his name. He has 144 cashes and a total winnings of $10,097,305. His First Place Finishes are at 19. The best thing is that he has been able to win for himself not one or two but 8 bracelets at the WSOP. This is certainly quite an achievement and not many players have been able to do this. There is the ProRank 1 Position that stands at 10.

Erik Seidel, born and raised in New York, and the first game that he started playing was backgammon. Very soon, he went on to decide to become a professional backgammon player. He played for eight years on the tournament backgammon circuit. That is when he decided to shift to the stock market and try his hand out there. Finally, he tried his hand at poker and since then there was no turning back for him. At the age of fifty-one he certainly has been able to achieve a whole lot for himself. When you don't find Erik Seidel playing poker he finds it relaxing enough to pursue his hobbies of tennis and music.

The very first major tournament that Erik Seidel participated in was the 1988 World Series of Poker Championship Event and this is where he stood second. The final hand of this tournament was shown in the film "Rounders."

The kind of success that Erik Seidel has been able to achieve for himself is unheard of. He has 8 bracelets to his name and most poker players would do anything to get even one of these most coveted of bracelets. He continues to work at bettering his game and remains right on top to be considered one of the best poker players ever.

The last round of gains for him was at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) Season 8/EPT Season 7/NAPT Season 2 called the No Limit Hold'em High Roller where he was able to get for himself a win of $295,960. This was on Jan 13, 2011.

The nickname that is most applicable to him is Erik "Sly" Seidel and that is because of the calculated moves and maneuvers that he makes at the poker table after studying the whole scenario.

He is considered to be one of the greatest of poker players of our time and is as famous as the likes of Howard Lederer and Dan Harrington.

He went on to win his very first WSOP bracelet in the year 1992 and won his last and eighth bracelet in the year 2007. Seidel has won bracelets in five different games such as Hold'em, Omaha, and Deuce to Seven Draw.

There have only been four other players who have ever been able to achieve this kind of history at the WSOP and go on to declare themselves world champions. They are Phil Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, and Johnny Moss who have won more bracelets than Seidel.
