Who are we?
Hi guys (and girls), welcome to the Team Narnia homepage. We're a young team of poker players from Eastern Europe, and we play in a weekly homegame
This web site is our home page, and a page on which we pay tribute to the best poker players in the world...
Clonie Gowen
Clonie Gowen has a lot of things going for her. Right from the time that she was at school she has been really good at a whole lot of things. She was born Cycalona Gowan and was nick named Clonie. She is a former Miss Teen Oklahoma and one might certainly not expect her to be at the poker player and playing phenomenally well at that. She not only looks stunning but is also able to play the most wonderful game of poker. She is a sure different size and shape then what one would expect of a poker player.
The thing about Clonie Gowen is that she has always preferred to be a part of the guy gang rather than hanging out with the girls. She was raised in Kiowa, Oklahoma, and was a member of a state championship basketball team and a high jumper. She was ranked seventh in the state of Oklahoma.
With this kind of cut throat competitive environment that she was used to and get acclimatized to, she was able to achieve the best in the game of poker. The way she started learning poker was from the father of her boyfriend when she was a teen. When she announced to her family of pursuing the game on a professional level she received full support from her mother. This is how she was able to take the game to the next level from just playing as an amateur to turning into a poker game professional player.
That is how she started playing cash games in Shreveport, Louisiana. This was way before her first major break happened to her when she was able to secure a 10th place finish in a $500 World Poker Tour event in Costa Rica. She then earned for herself $25,000 by defeating some of the best women players in the world. These players were in the like of Annie Duke, Jennifer Harman, Kathy Liebert and Evelyn Ng. This win brought along with it not only great wins in terms of the money that she earned but also a nationally-televised tournament which went on to win her instant fame.
Clonie Gowen and Phil Hellmuth are the only two players to have ever won the six-handed tournament three times over. This was certainly a great achievement for her. Some of her other accomplishments are third place finish at the Full Tilt Poker Championship in Las Vegas and fourth place in a $2,000 event at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic in December of 2005. Though there have been some of her fans who have been disappointed of her never ever winning a really big tournament. At the same time she continues to remain one of the most recognizable of faces on the circuit.
However, in the month of July of 2008 this perception changed when Clonie Gowen did win the $5,000 No Limit Hold 'em event at the Bellagio Cup IV for $437,775. This has brought about a great major win right into her kitty.
