Barry Greenstein

Barry Greenstein was born in the year 1954 in Chicago, Illinois. He lives in Rancho Palos Verdes in California and is 56 years old.

He has been a professional poker player since a while and has participated and won major tournaments. He has won several events and one of them of great pride were the three at the World Series of Poker and two on the World Poker Tour.

Another really commendable thing about Barry Greenstein is that he does not pocket his wins but donates his profit to charities. The charities that he supports are primarily linked with children. The nick name that he has got is "the Robin Hood of poker" because of this. The other nick name that he has is "The Bear."

Barry Greenstein has really made a name for himself in the world of poker. He has got three bracelets and 46 money finishes. He has graduated in the field of computer science from the University of Illinois. He then went on to study PhD in Mathematics but never completed it.

He then started playing poker and was doing quite well for himself. However, he wanted to make more money for being able to adopt his step children and therefore started working at a startup company called Symantec. He retired from there in the year 1991 at the age of 36.

Barry Greenstein has got two children and has four stepchildren and they all live together at Rancho Palos Verdes. Along with his step son Joe Sebok Barry Greenstein started a website called PokerRoad which is all about the specific techniques, strategies and methodologies that one can apply to turn into a professional poker player.

Barry Greenstein has been able to play in most of the high end series and has done really well for himself. He has been able to win for himself two titles at the WPT events.

Then, in the year 2008, he was able to win the World Series of Poker (WSOP) and earned himself a total of $768,461. The 2008 seemed to be really lucky for him as he was able to finish second just behind the famed player Erick Lindgren. At last count in the year 2010, the amount that he earned was from poker winnings was more than $7,000,000. Out of that his 44 cashes win at the WSOP he was able to make $2,259,097. He also has a book to his credit called the Ace on the River. Many a WPT seasoned player has attributed the book to be their success mantra. Barry Greenstein is known to give away this book autographed to the opponent who loses against him.

He is known for his generosity and is known to have taught his girlfriend all about the game of poker in return for her to teach him Vietnamese. He is seen playing online at PokerStars and the name that he goes by out there is barrygl. He is also a member of the cardroom at PokerStars.
