Who are we?
Hi guys (and girls), welcome to the Team Narnia homepage. We're a young team of poker players from Eastern Europe, and we play in a weekly homegame
This web site is our home page, and a page on which we pay tribute to the best poker players in the world...
Andy Bloch
Andy Bloch was born in the year 1969 in New Haven in Connecticut. He is a professional poker player who has two engineering degrees from MIT. To top this, he also has a Harvard Law School degree to his credit. He has won no bracelets so far but that does not undermine his other achievements in the world of poker. He has got 24 money finishes in the World Poker Series.
Andy Bloch started playing poker in a professional way in the year 1992. Before that he used to play at small tournaments and not very often. However, when he went on to win the World Poker Final Tournament with only $100 as an entry fee it really got to him.
In the year 1997, he actually missed the last week of law school to be able to play in the WSOP Main Event. That was the time that he had a taste of the big game of poker although he had agreed to be a guinea pig candidate. Then, in the year 1999 he decided not to enter law immediately but pursue playing poker further. That is when he realized that he could make a great career out of it.
Andy Bloch is known to have made the WSOP final table in the year 2001. In the year 2002, he got himself the first place at the Foxwoods and the Two World Poker Tour final tables finishing at third places both the times. Then, Andy Bloch boycotted the WPT in the year 2005. A suit was filed against him by seven popular poker players. The suit was settled in the year 2008 and it saw Andy Bloch take part in the Ultimate Poker Challenge. That is where he was the second season winner.
The high of his poker playing career was in the year 2006 when he went on to defeat Phil Laak and won for himself the Pro-Am Poker Equalizer. This win went on to earn him a prize money of $500,000. The tournament was shown on ESPN in the year 2007.
In 2008, Andy Bloch was able to come second only to the legend poker player Chris Ferguson in the National Heads Up Poker Championship. Andy Bloch at last count has earned himself a phenomenal amount of $2,149,821 from all the winnings that he has been able to take home.
The good thing is that Andy Bloch donates all of the money that he makes at poker to the various charities that he supports. The charities that he supports are all around the world.
He continues to remain one of the most highly academic of poker players. This is the same kind of mastery over skill and intelligent thinking that he brings to the game of poker. He has earned himself the nickname of "The Rock." He has certainly been able to earn for himself a great fortune along with lot of fame as well.
Andy Bloch was exposed to poker right during his childhood but only took it up seriously later on.
